Sexuality and Gender Diversity Cases

Over 300 cases on sexuality and gender diversity rights, or LGBTQIA+/SOGIESC rights, have been decided by international and regional courts and committees since 1955.

Arising from Valeria Coscini’s PhD international human rights law research into sexuality and gender diversity rights jurisprudence, this site collates these cases in one place and briefly outlines their findings.

It also highlights some of the key cases in the jurisprudence and provides some key points of analysis and critique to consider about the impact of key cases

It includes jurisprudence by:

the UN Human Rights Committee

the European Court of Human Rights

Inter-American Court of Human Rights

Court of Justice of the European Union

UN Committee on the Rights of the Child

UN Committee on the Elimination of All Forms

of Discrimination Against Women

UN Committee Against Torture
